Parasitology and Emerging Diseases
Sponsored by:

Mason Reichard, MS, PhD

Research in my lab focuses on parasitic, infectious, and zoonotic diseases of wild and domestic animals, with emphasis on tick-borne diseases. However, many other areas of Parasitology are also investigated such as epidemiology, pathobiology, and phylogenetics. Current research projects include determining the effects of patch mosaic burning on tick populations, identifying genetic variation in Cytauxzoon felis isolates, determining the prevalence and species of Trichinella infections in Florida panthers, and detecting genetic variation of Trichuris trichiura from captive baboons.
