Welcome to the official website for the Dallas County Veterinary Medical Association (DCVMA). DCVMA has been serving the Veterinary Profession and Dallas Community since 1954.
As 2016 has come to a close, I would like to recognize Dr. Jason Liska for his service to the DCVMA over the last 5 years, and his leadership as President in 2016. Thank you for your commitment to the veterinarians of Dallas County, and your efforts towards advancement of the DCVMA as an organization.
We would like to welcome new board member Dr. Amanda Henry, who will be serving as Secretary for 2017. Dr. Mark Stanfill has also been kind enough to serve as Senior Board Member for the coming year. We are excited to have both of you on the board.
Our special thanks to Dr. Richard Ford for returning in November to broaden our knowledge on the current recommendations for vaccinations in small animals. The meeting was both interesting and practical. We are grateful for the continued support of Merial, who sponsored the meeting. Please make sure to thank your local Merial representative.
Looking forward to the coming year, Dr. Geoff Bratton has been hard at work securing an exciting group of speakers. Royal Canin has been generous in sponsoring our January meeting. Dr. Beverly Wilkinson will be speaking on “Unconventional Diets: Are Grain-Free, Raw, and Holistic Diets Really Better?” and “Nutritional Approaches to Managing Atopic and Food Allergy Patients”. Please mark your calendar for the January 9th meeting.
As we are stronger together, we encourage you to submit your membership application and dues early. Remember that the cost of CE meetings is included with your dues. Our aim is to provide quality continuing education for local veterinarians. Please feel free to share comments or suggestions with one of the board members. Your input is always appreciated.
Dr. Jim “Doc” Airhart from Town East Animal Hospital passed away Sunday, December 18th. Our condolences to his family and staff at Town East Animal Hospital.
Wishing you a very happy and prosperous New Year!
Angel Thompson, DVM, DACVS
