Dallas County Veterinary Medical Association Inc.

Welcome

Welcome to the official website for the Dallas County Veterinary Medical Association (DCVMA). DCVMA has been serving the Veterinary Profession and Dallas Community since 1954.

President's Message

Dear Colleagues,

I hope this finds you well as we progress further into a wonderful summer. In June we heard a great talk from Dr. Mason Reichard, MS, Ph.D. about the ever-present threat of ticks. Special thanks go to Merial for their continued support of the veterinarians of Dallas County, we could not do this without you!

We also had the opportunity to gather to begin a dialogue about suicide awareness as it relates to veterinary medicine. Dr. Julie Ducote, DVM, DACVIM (Neurology) and Sandra Brackenridge, LCSW were gracious enough to take time out of their schedules to meet with local veterinarians and their staff. Thank you for your help in calling our attention to one of the most difficult realities of our profession. We also want to recognize TCVMA, CCVMA and TVMA for their support of the event. Please keep the discussion going in your practices!

Mark your calendar for the August meeting, which will be a presentation about critical care and anesthesia and an approach to common toxicities. This is a topic that can benefit all practitioners and their staff. Sponsorship for the meeting has been provided by MedVet Medical and Cancer Centers for Pets. We appreciate your commitment to providing continuing education opportunities!

Our condolences to the family of Dr. Lonnie Moore. Dr. Moore passed away on Monday, July 10th. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, July 15th at United Methodist Church of Preston Hollow.

The Board is accepting nominations for Secretary position and Senior Board member for 2018. If you know of someone or if you would like to serve on the Board, please contact any Board member or Mandy Ricketts at dcvma@dallasvma.org

Please feel free to share comments or suggestions with one of the board members. Your input is always appreciated.

Kind regards,

Angel Thompson, DVM, DACVS
